Parent and Child participants will meet at the Hanmer Valley Shopping Center parking lot 5085 Reg. Rd.80, Hanmer near the Northwest entrance for 0900am on the date of the event. Once all participants are accounted for they will be led to a parking area approximately 15 miles north of Capreol where they will disembark and hike approximately 800m into a small lake where they will fish from shore for a variety of fish species (Predominately smallmouth bass, walleye, and northern pike and some small panfish). Bait will be provided along with hot dogs, some soft drinks and water for lunch.
Parent and Child Hike and Shore Fish (25 August 2024)
Participating Parents will be required to sign a release of liability waiver and assumption of risk agreement for both participating parties. The parent will be responsible for the control, safety, and discipline of their child. The child has to be 10yrs. old or older to participate in this event. Non swimmers will be required to wear a lifejacket near the waters edge in areas where deep water is a hazard. Parents who will be fishing will be required to have the proper fishing licence and comply with all pertinent rules and regulations. Participants are also required to provide their own lifejackets and fishing gear unless prior arrangements are made with the service provider. Participants should wear appropriate clothing for walking in the bush keeping in mind the existing and forecast weather conditions, biting insects and sun exposure. Good footwear and a small backpack to carry your gear and belongings is recommended.
